Custom Packaging Sourcing in China

Build a packaging brief for your products: compare box structures, discuss branding and confirm samples, packing and delivery before production.

Start with the structure.

These common packaging formats are starting points for your enquiry. Availability, materials and production terms are confirmed against your brief.

Match the pack to the product.

For jewellery and watches, start with item fit and surface protection. For apparel, compare folded dimensions with the presentation you want. For cosmetics, confirm container dimensions and protection needs. For seasonal gifts, allow for artwork approval and sample review before setting a launch date.

Branding and finishing checklist

Include your logo artwork, colour references, print positions and preferred surface finish. You can ask about printing, foil accents, embossing, ribbons and inserts; feasibility and costs require supplier review. Claims about recycled content, certification or food contact need supporting documentation.

From brief to approved packaging

  1. Specify: share the product, size, quantity and reference.
  2. Compare: review construction, material and itemised quotation.
  3. Approve: agree on the dieline, artwork proof and physical sample process.
  4. Prepare: confirm product fit, packing checks and dispatch terms.

Questions before you commit

What is the minimum quantity?

It varies by structure, material, print process and supplier. Ask for the minimum per size and design, and compare the total cost at more than one quantity.

How much does custom packaging cost?

Ask for a quote based on dimensions, quantity, material, printing, inserts and delivery. Confirm sample, tooling and artwork costs separately if applicable.

Can the packaging ship with my products?

Include this in the brief. Product fit, assembly, storage and combined dispatch arrangements need confirmation before ordering.

Does a gift box protect goods in transit?

Presentation and transport protection are separate requirements. Discuss outer cartons, cushioning and an appropriate packing test before shipping.
